About Kilimanjaro Trekking via Machame Route (6 Days)
Machame route Successful route to mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa. The Machame route, also known as the “Whiskey” route, is the most popular route on Kilimanjaro. Machame’s draw is in its scenic beauty. However, the trail is considered difficult, steep and challenging, particularly due to its shorter itinerary. Therefore this route is better suited for more adventurous folks or those with some high altitude, hiking or backpacking experience.
This Kilimanjaro trek can be organized for families, couples or solo travelers. It includes airport pick-ups and drop offs and is based on camping accommodations. It includes sleeping bags, camping gear, oxygen tanks, rescue fees, park fees, transportation to and from the park gate, three meals per day, coolers, porters, a language guide and accommodations before and after the trek in Arusha or Moshi.
ITINERARY OF 6 DAYS MACHAME ROUTE KILIMANJARO
Arrival: Airport to Hotel
Pickup at the Kilimanjaro airport and transportation to the pre-reserved accommodation for breakfast. Receive a briefing from the mountain guide that day. On this day, the guide examines the climber’s gear to make sure it is appropriate. The guide also determines if the customer has any unique requirements, such as dietary needs.
Day 2: Drive to Machame Gate
After breakfast, drive to Machame Gate 7hrs to walk – Polepole to Machame Hut and dinner and overnight at Machame Hut.
Day 3: Move to Shira Hut
Leave Machame Hut after breakfast 7hrs to walk. Dinner and overnight at Shira Hut – Cave.
Day 4: Overnight at Shira Hut
Leave Machame Hut after breakfast 7hrs to walk. Dinner and overnight at Shira Hut – Cave. Leave Shira Hut to Lava Tower. 6hrs; Dinner and overnight at Lava Tower.
Day 5: Lava Tower to Arror Glacial Camping Site
Lava Tower to Arrow Glacial Camping site 3hrs. Dinner and overnight at Arrow Glacier.
Day 6: Arror Glacier to the Summit
Arrow Glacier to the Summit. Dinner and Overnight at Mweka Hut.
Day 7: Back to Moshi
Mweka Hut to Mweka Gate – Back to Moshi.
Day 8: Departure
Customers get up, eat the complimentary breakfast, and make plans for the day. Clients who are going on a safari get picked up for the safari. Clients are driven to the Kilimanjaro airport when they fly home. Customers traveling to Zanzibar or other nearby locations receive the appropriate assistance.
