About Kilimanjaro Trekking via Machame Route (7 Days)

Machame route Successful route to mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa. The Machame route, also known as the “Whiskey” route, is the most popular route on Kilimanjaro. Machame’s draw is in its scenic beauty. However, the trail is considered difficult, steep and challenging, particularly due to its shorter itinerary. Therefore this route is better suited for more adventurous folks or those with some high altitude, hiking or backpacking experience.
This Kilimanjaro trek can be organized for families, couples or solo travelers. It includes airport pick-ups and drop offs and is based on camping accommodations. It includes sleeping bags, camping gear, oxygen tanks, rescue fees, park fees, transportation to and from the park gate, three meals per day, coolers, porters, a language guide and accommodations before and after the trek in Arusha or Moshi.

ITINERARY OF 7 DAYS MACHAME ROUTE KILIMANJARO

Arrival: Airport to Hotel
  • Pickup at the Kilimanjaro airport and transportation to the pre-reserved accommodation for breakfast. Receive a briefing from the mountain guide that day. On this day, the guide examines the climber's gear to make sure it is appropriate. The guide also determines if the customer has any unique requirements, such as dietary needs.

Day 2 : Drive to Machame Gate

  • 7:30 am: Breakfast on the hotel property. At 8:00 am, you are picked up and driven to Machame. The guide double-checks the equipment and mountain gear before loading the truck to make sure nothing is missing. Then you take a car from Moshi to the Machame gate starting location. About an hour is needed to reach the Machame gate by car. When they arrive at the starting location, climbers sign in and organize their luggage so that each porter can only carry a maximum of 20 kilograms. We begin the trip to Machame camp after obtaining the climbing permit. On the journey, lunch is provided at Machame Camp. Around 3:30 pm, climbers arrive at the camp and are given tea, almonds, biscuits, popcorn, or other snacks. Machame camp hosts dinner and overnight stays.

Day 3 : Move to Shira Hut

  • In the morning, the guide checks on the climbers. The waiter uses warm water to brush his teeth and wash up. Breakfast is often served at 7:30 am. The climbers fill their water bottles with treated or boiled water after breakfast. Then they take down the tents and prepare the gear for the upcoming walk. The trip to Shira Cave Camp begins at around 8:30 am. Shira Cave Camp is 3750 meters above sea level. On the route to the Shira cave camp, lunch is consumed. Around 1:00 pm, climbers arrive at Shira cave. They register at the Shira cave camp, then take it easy until 3:00 pm before beginning their hour-long ascent to acclimate. The guests are given tea and nibbles around 4:30. Around 6:30 p.m., dinner will be given, and the guide will then provide a briefing on the next day. This camp has mountain tents for the night..

Day 4 : Barranco Camp.

  • A guide evaluates the climbers' health. Warm water is used to wash and brush the climbers. Around 8:30 am, the climbers leave for breakfast. The trip to Baranco camp then begins at 8:30 a.m. We will hike to Lava Tower for lunch and acclimatization on the route to Baranco. The height of Lava Tower is 4600 meters. From Lava Tower, you descend to Baranco (elevation 3900). After signing in, guests are given tea or coffee and cookies. Climbers will spend the night in tents at the Baranco camp after eating dinner at 6:30 p.m.

Day 5 : Karanga Camp- Barafu Camp

  • Early on, the guide assesses the climbers' health to see if anyone is experiencing any issues. As per usual, the waiter gives the climbers warm water to wash and brush their teeth. The day to hike from Baranco to Barafu base camp is today. A lunch break is provided for climbers in the Karanga Valley Camp, where the trek begins at 8:30 am. It takes 4 to 5 hours to walk from Baranco to Barafu. Around 2:00 pm, clients are welcomed at Barafu with tea and refreshments. They take a break, eat dinner at 6:30 p.m., and then retire to bed until 5:00 p.m., when they are awakened. They warm up with tea at 11:30. Then, at Midnight, they begin their ascent of Uhuru via Stella Point (elevation 5720m). Around 6:30 am, they arrive at Uhuru Peak. From the top, they soak in the sunrise, take pictures, and enjoy the scenery. They travel from Barafu Camp to Mweka Camp.

Day 6 : Mweka Camp

  • Around 3:00 PM, clients arrive at Mweka camp. After being washed with warm water, they are given tea and cookies. At Mweka camp, dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m.

Day 7 : Summit to Mweka Camp

  • The guide makes sure the climbers are okay by checking on them. They have warm water for brushing and washing. 7:30 am is when they eat breakfast. Clients applaud the success of the summit after breakfast. For the climbers, the climbing team (porters and guides) sings the Kilimanjaro songs. To go to Mweka gate, they walk. Three hours are required for a trek. Clients and staff sign out upon arrival at the Mweka exit point, collect their certificates, and then take a waiting car to their accommodation in Moshi town.

Day 8 : Back to Moshi

  • They get up early to go to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, people can participate in various pre-arranged activities like a safari or a trip to Zanzibar. They are transferred to the Kilimanjaro International Airport for those flying home.

Day 9 :Departure

  • Customers get up, eat the complimentary breakfast, and make plans for the day. Clients who are going on a safari get picked up for the safari. Clients are driven to the Kilimanjaro airport when they fly home. Customers traveling to Zanzibar or other nearby locations receive the appropriate assistance.
